Service was not great . I placed my order through eat24 it was late night and they're wait time was 20-40mins. I called after an hour of waiting and the guy over the phone was rude and hangs up the phone before I can even get a word out. I waited 1hr30mins. The food was not great if anything the food looked half way done and cold. Not ordering from this place again.

STAY AWAY!! I came here with my boyfriend for dinner. He had a chicken milenaza platter and I had the penne with salmon. First off, instead of bringing out tap water that I had asked for I got bottled water. Once the food came out , the grilled salmon that I was expecting came out as tiny shredded salmon pieces. The tiny bits of salmon ruined the dish for me. My boyfriend's plate tasted good, but was very tiny and the side of fries was an extra $4. After eating our meal we came up to the front to pay. She started putting a bunch of strange charges on the check (it was an iPad pay system so we could see everything that was going on). She tried to charge $15 for my tiny pasta which was actually $7.50 on the menu. She also tried charging $15 for the chicken which was $7.50 as well. Our check came out to $50 when it should have been $30. We had to argue over the prices and show her the menu. She dropped the $15 plates to $10 and acted like she was doing us a favor. Overall, very bad experience. We felt like we were getting scammed from the very beginning.

During my stay in South Beach, I came across this nice quaint cafe at the intersection 15 street and Washington Ave. I needed to fax a couple of documents and check emails on the Internet. To my surprise the service was great, staff is really friendly and the cafe had really good Italian food. The prices are reasonable to use the Internet and fax machine. Food prices are more economical here than other places on the strip. Caffe Di Mauro had multiple big screen tvs, computers, and yummy samples of gelato. My overall experience was pleasant and convenient to work.

As Flor C mentioned, this place has a lot going on: computers, books, gelato, juice, sandwiches, tvs, dogs... It's hard to get a firm grasp as to what it is. I don't know that there's a descriptor on Yelp that can do it justice. There's a distinct European feel to the cafe, so if you're looking for that, look no more. As for what you do here... I don't know. It's entirely up to you. I had a meeting here to go over marketing techniques and brand integration. Perhaps I was inspired by all the computers and books that surrounded me. In any event, after settling on a table (not the biggest when meeting with another person and there are laptops and notebooks involved), I ordered a juice and a sandwich. The juice I 'made' myself (chose the ingredients), so that was a pleasant tasting experience (apple, pineapple, lemon) if not entirely satisfying (nearly half of the cup was foam). The sandwich, while not much to look at, tasted fine enough (chicken, cheese, tomato, avocado, and bacon on ciabatta). What stuck in my craw, though, was that the gentleman preparing the food handled his dog the bulk of the time we were there. Look, I like dogs. They're cute. They're loyal. But they're also stinky and dirty a lot of the time. I certainly don't want food/drink made with essence of dog. It sort of grossed me out. Additionally, the preparer disciplined the dog numerous times while we were there... and a few times I thought he was rather rough with the dog. It was uncomfortable to witness. Overall, a weird and a bit uncomfortable experience all around. I can't say I'm eager to repeat it.

Wonderful whole-grain baguette and chicken/avocado/tomato sandwich with evoo, carrying the name of this special addition to SoBe. Great cappuccino and good prices too! They have gelato, and drink opinions such as SanPelligrino limonata, chinoto and Orangina. Also saw Stella, Peroni and Presidente bottled beer in the case. A library of books fill cases along an entire wall, free to read inside, there are bathrooms, and an apartment rental agent occupies the upstairs. 6 tables inside, but probably 10+ more outside, a point other reviews miss. The wonderful Italian proprietor shares this corner of Washington with a welcome center, which has an internet cafe' ... Billiards for $1 rounds out this gem. Go here ... 24 HOURS!!!

I order on eat24. They said they left the food at the front desk of my building. I went there and there was nothing. Someone from the restaurant called me and said maybe the people at the front desk kept it and that he didnt want to come back here with my food, that i should ask for a refund. He was very rude. I wont ever order from this place again. Update... So i got a call from the restaurant apologizing for what happened and was offered a free dish if i ever want to give it another try. So at least i appreciate the call.

Great place but could use a broader selection of espresso drinks (soy, low fat). The barristas are very nice and coffee is great. Washington Ave. in SoBe is still sketchy and I'll be happy when it feels safer. Some of the older places there are amazing, like the Charlotte Bakery and Le Sandwicherie. The merchants on Washington should work closer together to improve the street.

i think the name says it all, 'cafe of mauro' as it would translate to in English, and this is what you'll get. First of all, amazing coffee, espresso, capuccino, etc. fresh baked croissants in the morning and now, fresh pressed juices, literally made fresh to order. Finally, there is a place that can compete with juice and java for my office's juice drinks (we're a pretty healthy eating bunch). While the lunch fair is a bit pricey for what you might expect (more buffet style of food) it's reasonable for the area.

No fuss, just amazing food. Mauro is a dream... The kind of place that you will find in Italy. Super authentic and super delicious. This is one of my favorite hidden gems.

Really 3.5, very cool little place! Found a menu in another store as we were running around. We got hungry and wanted to stop for a quick bite. A couple of tables inside, small quaint and nothing fancy or remarkable. They offer: Salads, Pastas, Sandwiches and desserts. Mauro, the owner is from Italy. So friendly, personable, has a true passion for cooking, young and cool. From the moment we walked in he was very helpful and made our food himself. He first brought out fresh bread with oil. Bread was fresh and good. Entree: Rigatoni with 4 cheese with spinach $9, nice flavor, more of an alfredo cheese sauce but much lighter. Very good. Fettucine with Bolognese Sauce $8, had to trade my dish with hubby. The meat had excellent flavor to it, pasta cooked perfect. Great flavor, very small amount of red sauce. This dish was so good. Your order is cooked fresh by Mauro, he his a one man show in this quaint little cyber cafe. Worth the wait. Prices are superb. Under $25 for a quick dinner that was very good on the beach....Yeah, I am a fan of this place and will be back very soon! Service-Excellent Great find on the beach. He serves breakfast under $5 woohoo!

This is an exceptionally good "hole in the wall" place around South Beach. When you pass this place you will see a line of computers and a second floor filled with books and may miss the little cafe in the back. Regardless of the small cafe size, there are 4 big screen TVs and a very friendly owner, Mauro, who adds to a great environment. I was skeptical about eating here, but Mauro is very welcoming and ensured me that the food would be home made so I have it a shot. I ordered a Penne ala Vodka with Chicken and freshly squeezed orange juice (approx $17). As I sat down, he brought out 3 pieces of great Italian bread and after about 20 mins, the only downside about this place, I was brought out a good sized plate of Penne ala Vodka which smelled great. It also tasted great. The taste definitely made up for the wait time and made the overall experience of the cafe wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone trying to find a nice, small place in South Beach.

I have been to a handful of cyber cafes in South Florida. However, when I visited Caffe Di Mauro this weekend, I finally saw my ideal vision of what a cyber café should be--long rows of computers, open space, a library with tons of books, and a café where you can order an espresso (or a sandwich if you are hungrier). And trust me, if you are hungry, you must get their crispy pollo sandwich. It is very filling and comes equipped with soft bread. However, the side of potatoes it comes with is quite disappointing because the portions are small and very cold. Stumbling onto Caffe Di Mauro was serendipitous. I was across the street at Johnny Rocket's with a few friends when my friend was suddenly craving an espresso. I went across the street with her to this café, and I was exposed to a very welcoming atmosphere. I headed to the café in the back and saw their menu offered different sandwiches and pastas. A good smorgasbord of treats. I sat down, and the waiter tended to my friend and I's needs. Overall, a good experience. If I ever need to access a computer, I'll be back. Their sandwiches are worth a second visit, but you probably need to be headed there as part of your destination because it is a little bit out of the way from all of Miami Beach's main attractions.

If there's one word that describes this place it would be "awkward". Most people wouldn't even think about eating here when they walk in a see it's odd appearance as a combination internet cafe/tour booking agency/gelato stand. Don't get me wrong, the food is surprisingly good here. However, the ordering process was long and confusing. The servers just create this awkward feeling in the room. I'm still not really sure how or why but it was extremely apparent to everyone at the table. There were many moments of them trying to convince us to get a certain item, inability to communicate to us whether the menu meant it included the side items or they were optional, and some of the dishes being whatever they felt like making. However, the quality of the food somewhat made up for it.

To me this place is pretty average at best. I ordered (delivery) their smoked salmon pasta with vodka sauce and a side order of roasted potatoes. The sauce was quite delicious and the pasta cooked just enough to keep a good bite, however, the pieces of smoked salmon was reminiscent of something you'd get canned--that was quite disappointing. The roasted potatoes felt/tasted over cooked and as if I were receiving the last bits and pieces. The potatoes were (to my surprise) unseasoned, even. I suggest they sauté the potatoes in slightly smaller chucks with a little olive oil, salt, pepper, dry basil, oregano and minced garlic. In my mind, anyway, that's would I would expect a side of potatoes would be from an Italian cafe. The food was, however, delivered quickly and was quite cheap for South Beach. I will order from here again --maybe something different.

Food and coffee are completely authentic without the high prices and pretentiousness of Lincoln Road. Cook, server and guests are all Italian. Open 24 hrs. now. I will come here every time I'm in Miami Beach.

Caffe Di Mauro is a great little restaurant in the back of Renter's Cafe (Formerly Kafka's Cafe and Used Books). There are maybe a total of four tables inside and a counter for service and it looks into the cyber cafe and bookstore. The food here is excellent. I have been a few times and was back again last night with Hugo A. The place is very casual and your food comes on plastic plates, but everything here is homemade. The menu consists of salads, sandwiches, entrees, and pastas. Last night we had meatballs, which were juicy and meaty, eggplant parmigiana, which was large and tender, and the highlight of the meal, the fettuccine carbonara, which was tangy and delicious. The pasta is all homemade and incredible. My only complaint is that some of the food is premade and reheated. Prices are cheap for Miami Beach, with entrees ranging from $6-$10. Mauro, the owner, is incredibly accommodating and you can taste his pride of ownership in his food. He offered to make us whatever he could based on the ingredients he had. I will be coming back again and again!

cafe di mauro opened its doors in 2006, do you remember 2006? yeah, thats the year you got laid off from your job. remember? the domestic car industry was fucked, we were at war in two countries, at full speed too, not just launching remote controlled drones from washington dc. it was financial hell. do you remember that? south beach, washington avenue. youve seen it happen right before your eyes. youve been witness to all those failed businesses go broke and being forced to shut down within months of their grand openings. even south beach staples have closed down in the last few years. take uncle sams for example, no, it has not shut down but it went from being a decent size store to a tiny shop. their whole inventory probably fits on the backseat of a fiat. davids cafe is gone. even van dykes is gone. oh you miss van dykes? im sure you do. single tear. so, for a business to stay open since 2006 in what is possibly the most valued tourist/commercial real estate area of the south is a clear sign that the folks at caffe di mauro are doing something right. of course, when times are rough one needs to maximize resources. necessity is the mother of invention and innovation. yes, cafe di mauro shares space with what used to be a book store... do remember books? oh sure you do, you loooooove books. you probably still read books cause youre such an avid reader. you devoir books and you buy books all the time! books! books! books! however, this bookstore went broke so it turned into an internet cafe, and because this is south beach, they also opened up a kiosk/tourist information center, why? because the is demand for it. your in south beach bro. so there you go. at caffe di mauro you could log online, print documents, watch futbol, book a tour to the everglades, get the most affordable italian meal in south beach, grab a cup of coffee, even read a fucking book like "you normally do". but lets talk about food and not talk about you. first at all, lets talk about their hours. caffe di mauro is open 24 hours a day. talk about hustle. ok this time for realz, lets talk about food. pasta. you choose the sauce/style and pick a type of pasta, you pay for it, you wait for it, you eat it. are you confused? youre a bit slow. pasta dishes and sandwiches start at only $7. desserts from $4. breakfast from $2.75. they also have gelato, smoothies, shakes, natural juices and salads. it is important to point out that caffe di mauro is NOT a sit-down restaurant, its a cafe. neither it is an appropriate place to hold a business meeting, or study for the bar exam, write your thesis, memorize verses from the koran, etc etc etc. remember kids, this is south beach. cafe di mauro is a modest business that offers a wide variety of services and that has successfully made it through the years while the vast majority of other businesses have disappeared like cucarachas.

Mauro has easily become my daily routine after the first time I had the spaghetti bolognese. The people that work there are some of the nicest an most welcoming people I know. If you are craving amazing food, yummy gelato or feel like watching a soccer game with some local Italians this is for you! I'm in love and am confident in saying that I would chose to go eat here over any other place in Miami.

If you want the real taste of Italy without getting lost in the usual frills, this is the place for you! Delicious freshly homemade Italian food in a cute little "hole in the wall" that just makes you feel home and welcome! Thank you Mauro for bringing a little piece of Italy all the way to Florida!!

For what it is, I give it 5 stars. I am not comparing it to perricone's or anything, but yes, they do make good coffee. I found out that Mauro makes his own food. I speak Italian and lived in Genova, so he got a kick out of that one. He told me he began to cook when he became a bachelor and "momma" no longer cooked for him. I met up with a friend here for the first time. We ordered some cappuccinos (made by Mauro) and got to talking. A couple of minutes later he brought us a delicious croissant with strawberries and nutella. "Per le belle ragazze" -for the pretty girls, YUMM! It was amazing! We paid the bill and realized they did not charge us for the croissant. I left a couple of dollars extra tip (which were more than the coffee itself). The staff is very friendly and I could not have asked for a more pleasant experience.

When I heard the italians speaking outside I was curious to know if this was a real italian place. When I popped inside for some togo food for the plane trip home, the tiny space was full of Italians watching a soccer game, and leisurely eating. That pretty much settled everything. Case was full of meatballs, chicken milanese, sausages, and several different types of lasagne. Wiish I'da visited this place sooner. Homey feel. Gentle, genial staff. Spinach lasagne meal, made by an italian, while waiting for your plane - priceless

This place is a little unusual, and the experience is strange, but the food is to die for and the prices cannot be beat. I would not so much call it a restaurant but rather an old friend's kitchen. You walk in, convinced this is the wrong place because it is simply a counter in the back of an internet cafe with a few tables and paper menus. You have to ask if you can be seated, and then when you are, the owner makes you feel like you are an old friend. The food is served on plastic plates but it is authentic Italian from someone who takes great pride in his food. If I am ever back in South beach I'll come back. I would recommend it because of the food and the unique experience. I had gnocchi and it as cooked perfectly. The sauce was great.

I expected better from the yelp rating. I'm in no way picky, but if I go to a restaurant I don't want my food to be microwaved. The potatoes were very stale. The pasta was good but nothing impressive. The waitress was nice and we had good service, but the food was not fresh. We might have been there during the wrong time, but in my opinion a microwave does not belong in a sit down restaurant. I won't be returning here anytime soon. I'm still confused why people are giving good reviews.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
